The biological mechanical engineering laboratory is directed by Prof. Shuguo Wang and Prof. Yili Fu. The main research area includes biomedical instrumentation, biomechatronic technology,medical robotics and medical image processing.

The laboratory is now enrolling the masters and doctors majoring biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science and technology.

Now, the faculties consist of 3 professors and 7 lecturers. There are 9 doctoral students and 10 postgraduate students pursuing the degree in our lab. All the faculties have abundant overseas research experience; and all teachers are young technological experts in the interdiscipline of medicine and engineering. Many researchers in the lab serve as the editorial board members and reviewers for international journals. Over 200 scientific papers have been published,of which 60 papers are indexed by SCI and over 140 papers by EI.Our researchers have won the Best Paper Award of IEEE international conference twice, and Ministerial and Provincial-Level Science and Technology Awards 7 times including 1st,2nd and 3rd prizes. We have also held 17 national patents and published 3 monographs.

In nearly four years, we have won the funding support more than 20 million, the foundation of our lab is greatly strengthened. We have undertaken (and completed) more than 30 projects, including 4 national 863 projects (including one key project), 10 NSFC projects and 10 provincial projects.

We also give graduated students and post graduate students curriculums, including “Biomedical Image Processing”, “Scientific Research Design and Academic Writing”, “Biomechatronic Technology and Theory”, and “Biomechanical Engineering”, etc.

On the aspect of laboratory construction, we have related experimental equipment according to the main body of our research direction, including:

one 6T NAS data storage system, one house-holdself-developed robot for vascular intervention surgery robot, robot for minimally invasive  surgery, electromagnetic tracking system(NDI), optical tracking system(NDI),bionic force platform, cerebrovascular silicone model , cardiovascular silicone model(Shelly),three-dimensional monitor,  binocular camera, HP workstations, self-developed medical processing software and over 1000 sets of image data of CT,MRI,SPECT,PET. These equipment and data support our research.

Nowadays, with the flourishing growth of biomedical engineering, our team has been growing rapidly. We hope that we can make better use of our advantages to meet the medical need, through the help of high-level engineering and technical platform in the laboratory. We are striving to develop medical robots and related appliances with international advanced level to serve the great cause of human health. Our aim is to make our lab more distinctive and attractive; meanwhile cultivate more talents.
