The 2nd International Symposium on Life Sciences was successfully held at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) on July 8, with strong support from the HIT’s Office of International Cooperation. The symposium was hosted by the School of Life Science and Technology and the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at HIT, and co-organized by the HIT Center for Life Science and the Key Laboratory of Multimodal Prevention and Control Science and Engineering for Major Chronic Diseases under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The event brought together a distinguished group of experts, scholars, faculty, and students from China, Italy, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Russia.

Opening remarks were delivered by Wu Jian, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office under HIT’s Office of International Cooperation, and Hu Ying, Dean of the School of Life Science and Technology. Professor Cui Rutao from Zhejiang University delivered the closing address.

The symposium featured 17 oral presentations, including 7 keynote speeches, 6 invited talks, and 4 presentations by doctoral students. An extended poster session was also held, where 12 PhD candidates presented their research findings. Focusing on the pathogenesis of chronic diseases such as tumors, heart disease, and pulmonary fibrosis, as well as the latest advances in their diagnosis, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and academic exchanges. Preparations and prospects for the 3rd International Symposium on Life Sciences were also discussed during the event.

This symposium provided a valuable platform for academic exchange among faculty and students in the field of life sciences. It not only enhanced the communication skills of young teachers and doctoral students but also served as a bridge to strengthen mutual understanding between HIT and world-class universities and to explore new models of academic collaboration.
