Our group researches on the cell biological phenotype and molecular mehanisms of the oncogenesis and malignant transformation and cell signal transduction. In the field of research on oncogenesis and malignant transformation, we focused on the mechanisms of human lung cancer malignant transformation and metastasis, including the alteration of gene expression pattern, cell signal system, cytoskeleton and glycoprotein expressed on cell surface. In the field of cell signal transduction, the mechanisms of cell proliferation, differentiation, cell skeleton dynamics and interactions between cell and extracellular matrice regulated by small G protein family are emphasized. Our research involves novel gene cloning, subcellular localization assay, protein expression, purification and functional analysis. The research methods covered recent important hot fields of molecular cell biology and molecular genetics, such as cell cycle, cell apoptosis, signal transduction, regulation of gene expression, extracellular matrix protein and so on. Our group has been undertaking three research projects founded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and some of the outcomes fulfilled by our research group have reached the leading position in the world. For instance, two articles worked on the role of RAB5A in the cancer metastasis were cited by SCI, another two by EI, and all the three articles which could be searched by the PubMed were from our laboratory. Totally five out of seven articles, researching on the relativity of tumor, are the achievements of our research group.

The further studies include the following areas:

  1. Establishing new methods for the researching of cell biological phenotype of human lung cancer and novel tumor-related genes cloning, providing a technological platform of molecular and cell biology to the study of oncology.

  2. Completing the researches on the localization and interactions of structure gene and gene regulation regions located at 1p34.3. Previous studies have shown that that one gene coding region is the regulation region of another gene, a new eukaryotic cell genetic phenomenon.

  3. To carry out the applied researches taking advantages of crossed discipline and basic theory of life science and responding to the practical requirements of life science study. Explore the physical methods and materials for early diagnosis of cancer (such as non-invasive tracing subjects), in order to provide the effective methods to the early diagnosis and precise selection of individualized treatment projects. Develop new laboratory apparatus, new experiment material and biological engineering materials for early diagnosis research.

  4. Research on the alteration of cell signaling system during cell malignant evolution including the signaling pathway regulating cell proliferation, cell differentiation, cell skeleton dynamics and interactions between cells and cell-extracellular matrix .
